The Brooks family has always been present in Fort Walton Beach, Florida – in fact, they were here before there was a Fort Walton Beach. Town founder William Brooks homesteaded the downtown area in 1868 after he happened upon the location while serving in the Civil War, and it was from him that the town took it’s first name – Brooks Landing.
Later, as the area became known as Camp Walton, William Brooks’ son, John W. Brooks, became the area’s first real estate broker. His company took out an advertisement in the only local newspaper, The Spray, featuring a slogan that read, “Everything in Real Estate.”
His son, John W. Brooks, Jr. continued that tradition; known as “The Land Man,” John built a long and successful career using his natural southern charm and tireless work ethic, while creating a client list that read as a Who’s Who of Northwest Florida. Along the way, John led a number of real estate programs including one of the area’s largest Century 21 agencies. Our company was fortunate to have John as a leader and mentor – the Realtors of Brooks Realty are proud to carry on one of the longest real estate traditions in Northwest Florida.
Today, our company is led by our broker, Lowell Larson, a resident of Fort Walton Beach since 1967. Lowell shares over 40 years of real estate experience with our company, Brooks Realty – the first name in Fort Walton Beach real estate!
